AST SpaceMobile (ASTS)
Building the first space-based cellular broadband network.
The AI Angle
AST SpaceMobile is deploying a constellation of large-aperture BlueBird satellites designed to provide direct-to-cell broadband to standard smartphones — no special hardware required. The AI relevance: global AI access is constrained by connectivity gaps. AST's network would eliminate geographic limits on mobile internet, enabling AI applications to reach billions of users currently underserved by terrestrial networks.
AST has signed commercial agreements with major carriers including AT&T, Verizon, and TELUS. The company is accelerating Block 2 satellite production and targeting commercial service activation in the second half of 2026, with 45–60 satellites deployed across approximately a dozen launches.
